Artist Bios

Kyle Sullivan is a writer based in Portland, Oregon. His acclaimed titles for children include the Hazy Fables middle-grade series, the picture books Werewolf? There Wolf! and The Cyclops Witch and the Heebie-Jeebies, and the board book Get Dressed, Sasquatch!

Brooke Hartman is an Alaskan mom and author of silly, serious, and sometimes strange stories for children and young adults. Her writing has garnered national awards, including honors from Writer’s Digest, Pacific Northwest Writers Association, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. 

Jess Mason is a children's book illustrator from Worcester, England—the original home of hobbits! With inspirations including folk art, medieval manuscripts, nature, and film, Jess crafts nuanced, atmospheric, and characterful worlds to which readers will strive to return time and again. Her children's books include Hazel and the Spooky Season from Hazy Dell Press, Just a Girl from HarperCollins and Who Owns the Woods? from Little Tiger Books.

Meg Hunt is a celebrated and award-winning artist living in Portland, Oregon. In addition to illustrating four Hazy Dell Flap Books and the picture book Werewolf? There Wolf!, Meg has illustrated picture books for Chronicle, Bloomsbury, and Workman Publishing. Meg has won a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators and has had her illustrations featured in The New York TimesWashington Post, and Junior Scholastic Magazine.

Derek Sullivan is a Seattle-based illustrator. He has illustrated many books for children including Party Croc!: A Folktale from Zimbabwe for Albert Whitman & Company; and Hobgoblin and the Seven Stinkers of RancidiaZombie, Or Not to Be and The Cyclops Witch and the Heebie-Jeebies for Hazy Dell Press.

Laura Borio was born in Turin, Italy in 1986. In 2008, she attended a comic book course that changed her life. Since then, she has never stopped experimenting and creating. While most of her time is consumed by drawing, Laura also enjoys watching fantasy movies, reading children's books, practicing Tai Chi, eating pancakes with friends, and annoying her cat.
